The Unthanks: The Emily Brontë Song Cycle w/The Bookshop Band

    Cork Opera House

    Cork

    unthanks

Folk-singing siblings Rachel & Becky Unthank & Niopha Keegan, The Unthanks return for the second set of Irish shows in 2019. They'll be performing at Cork Opera House on November 4, inviting us into Emily Brontë's darkly passionate world.

The Mercury-nominated folk act grew up singing unaccompanied harmonies, and in keeping with their themed tours, this performance has been commissioned to mark Brontë's 200th birthday, and using her original cabinet piano, Unthanks' composer Adrian McNally has turned ten of her poems into song. These have been recorded by the Unthanks in the Parsonage in Haworth where Emily worked, and released as part 3 of Lines - their trilogy of albums recorded by historic female writers.

Supporting are The Bookshop Band, formed between a pair of English folk singer-songwriters & multi-award winning independent bookshop Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights. They write and perform songs directly inspired by books, having released 13 albums featuring many of the authors with whom they've worked.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster. Doors open at 7pm.
