  • Half Moon Festival 2020

Originally due to be launched as a multi-venue series at The Kino in Cork back in March, the inaugural Half Moon Festival will take place online from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th. No doubt likely to return in its full form next year, the line-up for this year’s inaugural outing offers up a stellar, multi-disciplinary series of music, performance, podcasting and beyond. Inspired by the way in which Cork’s Half Moon street “acts as a bridge between everyday life and the cultural spaces that are central to Cork,” the inaugural outing will feature Trá Pháidín, Síomha, Pulses featuring…

  • The Olllam w/ Síomha @ Black Box, Belfast

When the Black Box has a good night it tends to have a very good night and the general atmosphere upon arriving to the last night of The Olllam’s tour of the island seems to indicate that we’re in for a very good night. Warm word of mouth reviews from all corners and word that Joe Dart of Vulfpeck has joined them on bass throughout the tour brings a buzz of expectation to the room, and more than couple of curious Vulfpeck fans out of the woodwork, too. The room is a touch warmer than it really needs to be,…

  • Watch: SÍOMHA – July Red Sky (Live in the Burren)

Lahinch, Co. Clare based musician Síomha Brock has shared a striking visual accompaniment for ‘July Red Sky’. A fitting and really rather mesmeric pairing, the song’s neo-soul and jazz influenced flow brings the marvellous pinks, reds and oranges of the Burren’s coastal skyline to life. The performance, shot live at sunrise on what looks like quite a spectacular morning, is as natural and breezy as the landscape suggests, making for an intoxicating combination that puts you right there with Brock and her band, wind billowing through your very core. Irresistible.
