• Stream: The Rupture Dogs – Feral

    Ahead of its launch at Belfast’s Mandela Hall on Saturday, November 16 as part of Belfast Music Week 2013, The Rupture Dogs have released a stream of their debut album, Feral Recored by James Lyttle at Millbank Studios and mixed/mastered by Neal Calderwood at Manor Park Studios, the twelve-track release is also available to purchase via the band’s Bandcamp page.   • EP Stream: Little Matador – Liar Liar

    Ahead of supporting Queens of the Stone Age at Belfast’s Odyssey arena this day next week, Little Matador have unveiled their debut EP, Liar Liar A four track release, currently available at the merch stall on the band’s current tour with Jimmy Eat World, the EP serves as fully-realised introduction to Little Matador’s sound, from the charging alt-rock of ‘Boom Boom’ to the anthemic ‘Swagger’ of ‘Give Me All You’ve Got’.   • Stream: Hunk – Precipice

    Dublin lo-fi rock duo Sundara O’Higgins and Niamh Hegarty AKA Hunk have unveiled a brand new track, ‘Precipice’. Taken from their forthcoming debut EP, Fledgling – set for release on November 22 – the track is a wonderfully fully-formed effort with swathes of nocturnal noise, slightly off-kilter harmonies and a general air of Grass Widow about it (far from a bad thing in our book).   • EP Stream: Boxcutter – Gnosis

    Northern Irish electronic producer Barry Lynn AKA Boxcutter has unveiled a stream of his forthcoming new EP, Gnosis. A five-track release “of 160bpm excursions into new territory”, the EP is Lynn’s first appearance on Cosmic Bridge, the release itself curated by label boss Om Unit. Gnosis will be released on December 16 on 12″ Vinyl and in digital format. Stream the release via Soundcloud below.

  • Exclusive EP stream: Katharine Philippa – Broken To Be Rebuilt

    Ahead of its release tonight at Belfast’s McMordie Hall, we are delighted to present an exclusive stream of the spectacular Broken To Be Rebuilt, the eagerly-anticipated new EP from singer-songwriter Katharine Philippa. Co-produced, mixed and master by Matt Duke, the six-track EP features extra instrumentation from five different musicians, including Duke himself. The closing track is an orchestra quartet version of the album’s title track, bookending a release that perfectly captures Philippa’s spectral and sublime craft. Stream the EP in full below.

  • Stream: Grave Lanterns – Creepin’ Up On You

    New-fangled Cork-based band Grave Lanterns have released a stream of the decidedly unearthly new single, ‘Creepin’ Up On You’. Calling themselves “4-piece garage dust from an 8-track mind”, the four-piece – featuring Cork psych rock Altered Hours‘ frontman Cathal Mac Gabhann – have very aptly described the track as a “samhain swan song”. Organ-led, the spectral imprint of the likes of Bauhaus, Link Wray and Nick Cave are perfectly accounted for over the track’s four minutes. ‘Creepin’ Up On You’ is officially launched on Halloween night upstairs at The Pavilion, Cork.   • EP Stream: A Bad Cavalier – Ex Libris

    Ex-Panama Kings frontman and current And So I Watch You From Afar guitarist Niall Kennedy has unveiled his wonderful debut solo EP under the music-making moniker A Bad Cavalier. Having been recording songs for the project the last 14 years, the four-track Ex Libris is the first A Bad Cavalier release, recorded in Belfast and largely mixed and mastered on the road in Europe and America.   • Album stream: Lasertom – DRIFT

    One half of duo Ships, Dublin electronic producer Simon Cullen AKA Lastertom is streaming his debut album, DRIFT. Released via Nang Records, the nine-track release is a wonderfully-composed, synth driven effort from Cullen, who has recently described his sound as “slow-tempo disco”. Sounds about right to us!   • Stream: Sea Pinks – Magpie Eyes

    Belfast band Sea Pinks are streaming ‘Magpie Eyes’ the AA side of their forthcoming 7″ single, Exploded View/Magpie Eyes. Having released the equally superb ‘Exploded View’ at the start of the month, the newly re-recorded ‘Magpie Eyes’ is the sound of the Neil Brogan-fronted band at their very best. Limited to 100 records and including downloads of both tracks as well as two separate new songs, Exploded View/Magpie Eyes is out via CF Records on November 5.
