  • Video Premiere: Wild Rocket – Formless Abyss

Few bands do obliterating quite as convincingly as Wild Rocket. On releases such as 2017’s Disassociation Mechanics, the Dublin space rock band wed masterful repetition with a slew of bludgeoning riffs to lethal effect. The title track from the band’s imminent new release, ‘Formless Abyss’ takes that unfuckwithable ratio and ups the ante a hundredfold. Across the perfect eternity of ten minutes, the band unshackle one almighty beast that’s equal parts trouncing and – as it crests, a bokeh shot of face-searing sludge – supremely acid-soaked. Big words, yes, but this is a big fucking song. Watch Rian Trench’s aptly tripped-out visuals for the track below. Featuring contributions by Colin Mifsud, Tommy O’Sullivan…

  • Hands Up Who Wants To Die Announce Lineup Change & Return Show

For several years, arguably Ireland’s finest noise rock outfit, Dublin’s Hands Up Who Wants To Die have devastated rooms across Ireland & Europe, led by the singular stage presence of one Barry Lennon. His ominous presence read death knells over the unified metallic discord conjured by Paul Clynes, Matt Hedigan and John Breslin – known for respected DIY-spirited acts like No Spill Blood, Wild Rocket and Vatican II. Two spectacular records rose out of that particular alchemy: Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo, and Vega In The Lyre. The band have announced Lennon’s unfortunate departure from the band with the following statement: “It’s been a…

  • Wild Rocket – Dissociation Mechanics

Wild Rocket have been ploughing their own particular psych rock furrow for the past few years, standing out in the Irish metal scene as one of the slower, sludgier bands around. Their first album, Geomagnetic Hallucinations, was an assured debut, while their second, Dissociation Mechanics, toys further with the form, extending track lengths and burrowing further into their krautrock-meets-metal idiom. The album’s lead track, ‘Caught In Triangle Again’, is one that’s least representative of the whole album. It opens with a loping groove, guitars and bass doubling the riff, accented by synth and joined by vocals that come straight from…

  • Album Premiere: Wild Rocket – Dissociation Mechanics

Following our stream of lead single ‘The Future Echoes‘, we’re delighted to exclusively premiere the fuzzed-out, low-end heft of Dublin quartet Wild Rocket‘s second LP, Dissociation Mechanics, released through the perennially reliable Irish independent Art for Blind on July 7. Already respected for their distinctive amalgam of groove-strewn heavy psych, sludge and space rock after debut studio album Geomagnetic Hallucinations, they’ve seemingly a complete grasp of the art of kosmische repetition. Disassociation Mechanics is an even more fully-realised and beautifully produced iteration of the band’s sound, with the album being recorded by Ireland’s Deaf Brothers – also known for their work with No Spill Blood, Alarmist and Meltybrains?. Unsurprisingly, given the monolithic sprawl of the…

  • Watch: Wild Rocket – The Future Echoes

Heft, beautiful heft. Hands down one of the country’s finest heavy psych propositions, Dublin quartet Wild Rocket have returned with the fuzzed-out, low-end, bastardised cosmic mastery of ‘The Future Echoes’. Taken from their forthcoming second studio album, Disassociation Mechanics – released via the mighty Art for Blind on July 7 – the track has a brand new (and suitably impressive) video courtesy of Thomas Parkes. Check it out below.
