• Forfey Festival

    Taking place across the weekend of August 1-3, the wonderfully intimate and unaffected Forfey Festival returns to Forfey Farm near Lisnaskea, County Fermanagh with one of its strongest line-ups to date. As ever, homegrown folk and acoustic acts make up the majority of this year’s line-up, but there is also a wide range of electronic and rock artists – everyone from Hornets to Affleck – performing across the festival’s three days.   • Playlist: Ten Must-See Acts at Forbidden Fruit 2014

    With the final acts being announced at the start of the month, the stage-times and running order for this year’s Forbidden Fruit festival have just been announced. Featuring the likes of The Flaming Lips, Flying Lotus and Public Enemy, this year’s festival will also include sets from Irish acts including Girls Names and And So I Watch You From Afar.   • Longitude Festival 2014

    Following the success of its inaugural year in 2013, Longitude will return to Dublin’s Marlay Park this summer with an extremely strong and varied line-up. As well as Irish acts including Tvvins, Le Galaxie, We Cut Corners and Adultrock, Ben Howard, Massive Attack, HAIM, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Afghan Whigs are amongst the many acts set to play over three days – from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20 – this summer.   • Thirty-five new acts announced for Longitude

    With an already impressive line-up on the cards, thirty-five more acts have been announced to play the second outing for Longitude festival in Dublin’s Marlay Park this Summer.   • Castlepalooza Announces First Acts

    An annual fixture at the breathtaking Charleville Castle in Tullamore, Castlepalooza have announced their line-up for 2014. With a handful of acts yet to be announced, Super Furry Animals’ main man Gruff Rhys (pictured), indie-pop duo Summer Camp and Franco-Swiss DJ Gilles Peterson top the bill of acts performing this year. Several Irish acts including Hurdles, We Cut Corners, The Clameens, TVVINS, Affleck and Ships also feature in this year’s line-up.   • Indiependence Announces Line-up

    Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the Michelstown-based festival Indiependence announced its lineup yesterday evening. The festival – taking place on the August bank holiday weekend –  draws in bigger names this year, with Public Enemy (above), White Lies and Tom Odell all headlining. Further down the lineup you get the likes of Irish stars Delorentos, Damian Dempsey and Sultans Of Ping, along with upcoming talent Darling, Chloe Howl and The Academic. Tickets are a very reasonably priced €99 and are on sale now.

    Trip-hop pioneers Portishead and U.S hip-hop duo Outkast are amongst the first wave of acts announced for this year’s Electric Picnic.
