• Stream: Kowalski – Sunroom

    Bangor-based indie-pop foursome Kowalski have released a stream of their single, ‘Sunroom’. Taken from the band’s long-awaited debut album For The Love Of Letting Go, it is a suitably scintillating burst of sun-kissed electro-pop from the quartet who released their debut EP – Are You Noisy Sunshine State? – back in 2006.     Seven years after it was recorded, sadly missed Belfast-based noise rock band Yakuza have released their second studio album, Insane Plight In Plain Sight. Recorded in band’s hometown of Coalisland and mixed in Portland, Oregon’s Jackpot! Studios the following year, it features the album’s original eleven songs and the three tracks that make up the band’s live EP Ride The Bible, recorded at BBC’s Blackstaff Studios in Belfast.   • Stream: two new Franz Ferdinand singles

    Scottish indie rock quartet Franz Ferdinand have unveiled two new singles, taken from their forthcoming fourth album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions. Streaming via YouTube the tracks – lead track ‘Right Action’ and ‘Love Illumination’ – are two of ten set to feature on the highly-anticipated album, set for release on August 27 via Domino.   • Stream: Floor Staff – The Good Luck EP

    Dublin experimental two-piece Floor Staff are streaming their forthcoming debut release, The Good Luck EP. Already showing signs of great things to come, the duo – Anthony Donnelly and Stephen Murray – are currently assembling a cast of musicians to help them launch the release and the band itself. The Good Luck EP will be launched in Dublin’s Twisted Pepper on Friday, July 12 as part of the 10 Days In Dublin Festival.     Comber-based experimental folk singer-songwriter Joshua Burnside is streaming his new EP, the exquisite If You’re Goin’ That Way. Launched at Belfast’s White’s Tavern last week, the five track EP comes off the back of the success of its lead single, ‘Black Dog Sin’ and features additional instrumentation from Rachael Boyd and Connor Burnside.   • Stream: Smith Westerns – Soft Will

    Last month we posted a stream of Chicago indie rock band Smith Westerns’ exquisite single, ‘3am Spiritual’. Now, the band are streaming the album from which it is taken, Soft Will, via NPR. The third album by the U.S. quartet, it will be officially released next week and is the follow-up to the 2011’s Dye It Blonde. Stream the album here.

  • Stream: No Age – ‘C’mon Stimmung’

    Taken from their new album – set for release via Sub Pop on August 19 – Los Angeles noise duo No Age are streaming a new track, titled ‘C’mon Stimmung’. Set to feature as the third track on An Object – the follow-up to 2010’s impressive Everything In Between – the song is a brief but characteristically exuberant burst of experimental punk from the two-piece.   • Stream: Superhumanoids – Bad Weather

    L.A. dream pop trio Superhumanoids have unveiled a new track, the wonderfully laconic, decidedly lovely ‘Bad Weather’. Taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Exhibitionists, the track is propelled by hazy synth and guitar arpeggios, as well as vocalist Sarah Chernoff’s superbly subtle delivery.
