The Choice Music Prize Ð Irish Album of the Year 2017 Winner
Ships have just been announced as the winner of the RTƒ Choice Music Prize Ð Irish Album of the Year 2017 for the album 'Precession' (Ships Music). They received a cheque for Û10,000 - a prize which has been provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) - as well as a specially-commissioned award. The jury panel of Irish music media professionals deliberated at length tonight and chose the album from the shortlist of 10 records released by Irish artists throughout 2016. The sold-out event in Vicar St, Dublin featured live performances by 9 of the album shortlisted acts. The event was hosted by 2FMÕs Eoghan McDermott and was broadcast live in a special broadcast on 2FM. Additionally, the RTE Choice Music Prize Irish Song Of The Year 2017 was awarded to Chasing Abbey for the song "That Good Thing". TV highlights of the show can be seen on RTE2, Sunday 18th March at 11pm.
