As recession turns into a gloomy memory of Dublin’s past, development designs once shelved are being retrieved across the city, including former visions of grandeur for Dublin 7’s Smithfield. Development brothers Joe and Patrick Linders stand poised to helm the projects along the storied streets, having bought up properties throughout the area since before the crash years ago. Dublin creative arts organisation BLOCK T are throwing one heck of a 5th birthday party/fundraiser at the Tivoli Grounds on Saturday, July 4. Curated by BLOCK T, Ensemble Music and Nialler9, the party will feature I Am The Cosmos, Lasertom, Donal Dineen, Attention Bébé, Rusangano Family (pictured), Trinity Orchestra, RiZa, BANTUM, Haüer and SignA across two stages. The Sugar Club hosts the Block T Christmas Party on December 13 which looks to be an attack on the senses. On the night, they combine visuals and audio, with a screening of Billy Bob Thornton black comedy Bad Santa, performances from Dublin lo-fi garage pop Squarehead, Irish DJ/producer Ruairi Lynch aka Bantum – accompanied by a live visual mapping show from Slipdraft – some Block T DJ’s and a night-closing DJ set from Donal Dineen of 2fm.
