Bob Mould has announced a solo show for Dublin. The ex-Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman will play a solo electric show at Whelan’s on January 19 2022. Tickets are priced €29.50 and go on sale this Friday (July 23) at 10am. The show, which coincides with the upcoming release of his Distortion: Live vinyl boxset, sees Mould perform solo versions of music from across his 40+ career, including some Hüsker Dü classics.

South London post-punk foursome Goat Girl are set to play Dublin later this year. The band, who release their second studio album On All Fours via Rough Trade on January 29, will – all being well in the world – play Whelan’s on September 18. Tickets for the show are €15 and go on sale this Thursday (January 21) at 10am. Described by Goat Girl’s Lottie Cream as a song centering “around the idea of losing a grip on reality and how often this can happen” watch the video for ‘Sad Cowboy’ from On All Fours below.

After ten years, Dublin five-piece SPIES have announced they are to split. Having re-emerged back in 2018 after a three-year hiatus, with the sublime Constancy in tow, the Michael Broderick-fronted band announced the news via social media today. In a statement – which also revealed that their show at Whelans on February 15th will be their last – the band said, “The five of us have had an amazing time playing music together over the last 10 years but we feel the time is right ot move on.” Read the full statement below.
