• Distillation 003: Hornets, No Spill Blood, PigsAsPeople

    Our intrepid photographer Liam Kielt was in attendance at their third installment of Distillation at Belfast’s Oh Yeah Centre. Headlined by Hornets, the showcase also featured suitably blinding sets from Belfast-based three-piece PigsAsPeople and Dublin band No Spill Blood. The fourth edition of Distillation on Friday, September 20 will be a Culture Night special, featuring Sea Pinks, September Girls and Affleck. Go here for more information.   • Stendhal Festival 2013

    Celebrating its third birthday in fine fashion at the weekend, Stendhal Festival of Art 2013 provided some stellar photo opportunities for our photographer Ciara Mc Mullan. With Pocket Billiards, Dead Presidents and Duke Special (above) standing out across the two-day, multi-stage, family-friendly event, next year’s festival cannot come soon enough.   • Belsonic: Basement Jaxx, Leftfield, Le Carousel

  • Way Out West Festival 2013

    Our Malmö, Sweden-based photographer Ian Pearce (above) hit up this year’s Way Out West Festival, undoubtedly the Scandanavian country’s best annual showcase of musical and culture. Having took place in Göteborg from 8-10 August, this year’s line-up was something else altogether. Headlined by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the bill featured everyone from The Knife and Godspeed You! Black Emperor to Haim and Public Enemy. Take time to sift through Mr Pearce’s extraordinary trove of visual awesome below!

  • A Fight You Can’t Win, Dutch Schultz, Bellos @ Voodoo, Belfast

    The massively talented Diarmuid Kennedy captured Edinburgh alt-rock quartet A Fight You Can’t Win stop off at Belfast’s Voodoo Bar recently in what turned out to be an unforgettable show (particularly for an otherwise unremarkable Sunday night). With the Matthew Bakewell-fronted foursome delivering a storming – highly entertaining – set, the equally riff-fuelled wrath of Bellos and Dutch Schultz proved themselves to be perfect support at either end of the travelling band’s raucous set.   • Go Wolf – Limelight 1, Belfast

    Having been on the upward turn over the last months, fast-rising Belfast-based band Go Wolf supported Brazilian’s finest indie rockers CSS at their Belfast show at Limelight 1 on Friday, August 2.
