    While Sounds from a Safe Harbour brings many high-profile and international acts to Cork City as part of a wide-ranging ticket, the real gems of the festival lie in the presence on the bill of some of the city and country’s independent bands and artists, once again mostly placed on a “music trail” as a secondary attraction (see also: MTV “hitting” Cork).   • Sensorium: BLOCK T 5th Birthday

    Dublin creative arts organisation BLOCK T are throwing one heck of a 5th birthday party/fundraiser at the Tivoli Grounds on Saturday, July 4. Curated by BLOCK T, Ensemble Music and Nialler9, the party will feature I Am The Cosmos, Lasertom, Donal Dineen, Attention Bébé, Rusangano Family (pictured), Trinity Orchestra, RiZa, BANTUM, Haüer and SignA across two stages. There will also be DJ sets from Adultrock, Benny Smiles, Djackulate, Nialler9, Rob Le-Nan and Somadrone, as well as art installations, visuals, a live show from Slipdraft, gourmet food stalls and more.     Formerly known as God Knows + mynameisjOhn, month we had the pleasure of bearing witness to Limerick’s Rusangano Family live in a filming of the Parlour (in which were also guests) at Whelan’s, Dublin. Both on and off camera, the guys – one of the featured acts in our 15 for ’15 feature – delivered an electrifying brace of tracks including the equal parts excellent and ethical ‘Wasteman’.   • The Thin Air’s Second Birthday @ Twisted Pepper, Dublin

    We’ll be celebrating our grand second birthday at Dublin’s The Twisted Pepper on Saturday, May 2. Kicking off at 6pm in the Twisted Pepper cafe with an exhibition of our magazine covers to date and selected work from our fantastic team of photographers. Following that we have Robocobra Quartet and Night Trap live in the Stage room with our headliners who will be announced on April 2nd.
