New Belfast venue Aether & Echo will play host to two nigh on unmissable shows as part of the forthcoming Becks Rhythm Weekender on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24.
Legendary Godfather of neo-soul, co-founder of jazz funk and one of the most sampled artists in history, Roy Ayers will grace the stage on the Saturday night. Renown for his stunning live jazz shows, his tracks such as ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’, ‘Searchin” and ‘Running Away’ has seen him become one of the most iconic and respected musicians of his genre. His influence and reach over six decades cannot be overstated; to see him in such a relatively small venue is not to be missed.
Support on night comes from local acts NI Soul Troop and DJ Gavin Wilson.
Los Angeles hip hop trailblazers The Pharcyde (above) will play the venue the following night, teaming up with Bizarre Ride producers to perform their landmark album Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde in its entirety. Brilliantly and boldly blurring the line between a straight-up hip-hop show and theatrical performance, “hip-hop, energetic raps, bright colours, b-boy throwdowns, magnetic visuals, a heavy dose of humour and absolutely everything in between” is to be expected.
Like Ayers’ show, support on the night will comes from local artists: Nik Muzka and Chris Caul.
Tickets for both shows cost £15.75 including booking fee and can be purchased here (The Pharcyde) and here (Ayers).
