Ghouls On Film, Belfast’s essential feminist horror film club, is gearing up to launch its third zine this weekend.
Led by Belfast artist Isabella Koban, the club has become a vital space for monthly screenings of cult classics and indie gems that challenge traditional portrayals of women in horror.
The Ghouls On Film zine doubles down on this mission, solidifying its place in both the film and zine scenes on the island. A beautifully curated and masterfully collaborative effort, the first two issues have showcased local talent and provided sharp, fresh perspectives on horror, with themes like Hysteria & Lunacy.
The launch event for Issue No. 3, The Satanic Slumber Party, is set for Sunday, 11th August at The Black Box in Belfast. The evening will feature campy short films, DIY enemy bracelet-making, psychic rock ’n’ roll, exclusive merch, and, of course, the new zine.
Special guest DJs Sunglasses After Dark will come out of retirement to spin psychotic tracks from the 50s and 60s, while a series of short films is sure to unleash your inner teen demon. Photographer Billy Woods will also be there with his luxe Luciferian photo booth to capture the night.
Doors open at 6pm, and entry is free. Koban suggests a dress code of “Jayne Mansfield in her Church of Satan era—devil worship, but make it cute.”
Don’t miss out—grab the newest zine and join the celebration of Koban and co.’s incredible work.
