Eno. at IFI, Dublin

The Irish Film Institute (IFI) is set to host the Dublin premiere of Eno., a cutting-edge generative documentary that delves deep into the creative mind of the legendary musician and artist Brian Eno.

Widely lauded for his work with icons including David Bowie, U2, and Talking Heads, Eno’s influence on music and art is unparalleled. Now, in Eno., audiences will gain unprecedented insight into his creative process, thanks to the vision of director Gary Hustwit.

Eno. defies the conventions of the typical music documentary. Steering clear of the usual hagiography, the film draws on a wealth of material, including never-before-seen footage and unreleased music from Eno’s personal archives. Combined with Hustwit’s original interviews, the documentary offers a fresh and intimate perspective on Eno’s work and life.

But what truly sets Eno. apart is its innovative use of technology. Developed in collaboration with digital artist Brendan Dawes, the film employs a proprietary software system that generates millions of possible variations. Each screening is unique, echoing Eno’s own philosophy of constant experimentation and innovation in his music.

Dublin audiences will have the chance to experience this one-of-a-kind film on September 7, 8, and 10 at the IFI. With a different version of Eno. shown at each screening, no two viewings will be the same—a fitting tribute to an artist who has always embraced the unpredictable.

For those eager to witness this cinematic exploration of Eno’s genius, tickets are available now. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a truly transformative experience in the heart of Dublin’s very best cinema.
