Sinai Vessel – Where Did You Go?
The Low Field first got together as a direct result of myself, Danny, and Brendan becoming infatuated with this album in the winter of 2020. It’s hard to pick one song off of “Ground Aswim”, but I think the opening track is perfect. Check out the Audiotree session too.
The Hotelier – End of Reel
This song floors me quite regularly. The Hotelier are most known for their huge emo revival album “Home, Like Noplace Is There”, and rightfully so. But it’s the space given to the songs on the 2016 follow up “Goodness” that really does it for me. The lyrics are much more poetic & naturalistic. The humanity present across the whole album is beautiful. It culminates in this 6 minute catharsis, aptly titled “End of Reel”. It’s been a major influence since I first heard it.
Renée Reed “Où est la fée”
I discovered Renée Reed in 2021 just before she released her debut album on Keeled Scales. This song, and the whole album quickly became a favourite. Haunting, dreamy, eternity-teasing music, everything needed to get through those weird years.
Buí – Walls
We love these guys so much. The nicest people making the nicest, yet hard hitting music. Lo-fi heaven.
Junior Brother – No Country For Young Men

This is straight up one of the best Irish songs ever recorded. There’s no one like JB. New song ‘Take Guilt’ is also an instant classic.
Land of Talk – Some are Lakes
Another record that was instrumental in us deciding to make music together is Some are Lakes by Land of Talk. Jangly anthemic emotional guitar music. I’m so glad they got back together and have been releasing music consistently. Their KEXP live session is one of the most affecting performances I’ve seen in a long time.
Greet Death – You’re Gonna Hate What You’ve Done
This song is a big production reference for us, and probably the reason we made one of the tracks off our upcoming album 8 minutes long. The heavy parts are truly crushing, the soft parts delicate & we really tried to emulate that across parts of the album.
Low – Days Like These
A song that means a lot to us & our wider friend group. Seeing Low twice in the space of 24 hours at Primavera 2022 with all of my friends will forever be one of my fondest memories. The greatest to ever do it. RIP Mimi Parker.
