Beatyard is a very different festival to your standard Irish festival. Boat parties and a concrete setting make for a different experience than the typical field fare. Families litter the audience and Bodytonic pieces are everywhere you turn from the Wigwam stage to the Eatyard area. Setting a festival in such a centralised area is no mean feat but Beatyard manage to pull it off with unique elements and a stellar line-up. Although they’ve always delivered in the past, the line-up for next year’s Beatyard is shaping up to be something rather special. Set to return to Dun Laoghaire Harbour across the Bank Holiday Weekend of August 4 and 5, the festival has revealed Kamasi Washington, Little Dragon, The Sugarhill Gang, The Skatalites, John Talabot, Joy Orbison, Modeselektor (DJ Set), Le Boom, I Am The Cosmos, Bad Bones and Bodytonic DJs have joined the bill. Day two of Beatyard 2016 ztarts off on a sour note as word filters through that the Daptone records’ soul maestro Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires have had to pull their main stage appearance, due to the man himself being unwell. Alas, these things happen so it is left to the organisers to switch a few things around.
