With his fifth solo album, Babelsberg, set for release via Rough Trade on June 8, Super Furry Animals main man Gruff Rhys has announced three Irish dates for December. Rhys will play Cork’s Live at St Luke’s on December 1, Galway’s Roisin Dubh on December 2 and Dublin’s Button Factory on December 2. English electronic duo Rob Brown and Sean Booth aka Autechre will perform a show in darkness at Dublin’s National Concert Hall on Sunday, July 15. Having previously played the Dublin venue back in 2014 and 2010, it’s been announced that Anton Newcombe’s Brian Jonestown Massacre will play the Academy on Friday October 19. The news comes ahead of the release of two new BJM albums in 2018, the first of which – Something Else – is our on June 1 via A Recordings. Recorded between 2017 and 2018, the release is a self-proclaimed return to the “traditional” sound of the band after the experimentation of recent records. The legendary Brian Wilson will return to Dublin to play his and the Beach Boys’ Greatest Hits live later this year. Performing alongside Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin and his band, Wilson will plays tracks spanning his 54-year career at Vicar Street on August 21 and 22. Wilson last played the city last year at Bord Gais Energy Theatre as part of the Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary World Tour. It’s been announced that New Jersey DIY punk trio Screaming Females will play Dublin’s Grand Social on September 6.
