One half of Choice Prize-winning Dublin duo Ships, Simon Cullen has made sublime electronic sounds under the Lasertom moniker for a number of years now. Having focused on the former project from the last couple of years, Cullen is back in solo mode via Super Saor, a brand new three-track EP, produced written and recorded this year. With all three tracks clocking in over 7 minutes ago, it’s a deceptively expansive, synth-drenched, earworm-heavy release brilliantly blurring the lines between electro, house and nu-disco. Dublin creative arts organisation BLOCK T are throwing one heck of a 5th birthday party/fundraiser at the Tivoli Grounds on Saturday, July 4. Curated by BLOCK T, Ensemble Music and Nialler9, the party will feature I Am The Cosmos, Lasertom, Donal Dineen, Attention Bébé, Rusangano Family (pictured), Trinity Orchestra, RiZa, BANTUM, Haüer and SignA across two stages. One half of duo Ships, Dublin electronic producer Simon Cullen AKA Lastertom is streaming his debut album, DRIFT. Released via Nang Records, the nine-track release is a wonderfully-composed, synth driven effort from Cullen, who has recently described his sound as “slow-tempo disco”. Sounds about right to us!
