It’s always great to see a new regular live gig night crop up. Launching at Belfast’s McHughs on Saturday, May 22, BASECAMP is the a new venture from Four Acre, the brainchild of Neil Allen of all but revered NI alt-folk band The Emerald Armada. For its first outing, the night – which is calling itself “the home of emerging artists – will see sets from Brash Isaac, Jamie Neish and Benjamin Hamilton. Admission is £5, doors are at 8pm.

A brand new regular event featuring female DJs spinning the best chill, downtempo music from the realms of electronic music, indie rock and much more, the first ever Sad Gals Club will take place at Gulpd Cafe in Triskel Arts Centre, Cork on Sunday, April 16. Running from 4pm-8pm the club – hosted by the most excellent Kelly Doherty – will welcome Lisa O’Flynn and Aisling O’Riordan of Southern Hospitality Board, Dublin Digital Radio and more. A new night created by local DJs Jamie Nelson and Jamie Nevin promising to deliver music that has been “left behind and under appreciated”, Loop will launch in Mister Tom’s at Lavery’s, Belfast on Friday, September 16. Joining the duo for its first outing – which coincides with Culture Night 2016 – is none other than adopted Belfast multi-instrumentalist writer, arranger, producer and all-round legend Kaidi Tatham.
