With Bangor singer-songwriter Foy Vance having scooped the inaugural award last year, the twelve-act shortlist for this year’s Northern Irish Music Prize has been revealed. The follow-up to their debut single ‘Stitch Yourself Up’, alt-rock five-piece Little Matador have unveiled the video for their new single, ‘Reasons’. Directed by Liz Robinson and Kevin Hylands, the video features the band’s frontman Nathan Connolly ending up in a boxing ring with two-time world champion female boxer Lisa Anderson. Although the above screenshot from the video might give you a slight idea, we won’t give away the ending. Having had an extremely encouraging first year together, alt-rock band Little Matador have unveiled the video for their debut single, ‘Stitch Yourself Up’ A self-proclaimed “earth-quaking stomp full of swagger and intent; dripping aggression, danger and sex in equal measure” the video features the band’s frontman, Nathan Connolly, getting a little more than he bargained for. ‘Stitch Yourself Up’ will feature on the band’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for release on April 21. Ahead of supporting Queens of the Stone Age at Belfast’s Odyssey arena this day next week, Little Matador have unveiled their debut EP, Liar Liar A four track release, currently available at the merch stall on the band’s current tour with Jimmy Eat World, the EP serves as fully-realised introduction to Little Matador’s sound, from the charging alt-rock of ‘Boom Boom’ to the anthemic ‘Swagger’ of ‘Give Me All You’ve Got’. Fronted by Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connolly, Little Matador are a band that have already proved themselves to be much more than the sum of their parts. The “parts”, in this instance, before the aforementioned globetrotters, LaFaro, Idlewild and many more projects and musical endeavours besides.
