  • Sal Dulu – Xompulse

Xompulse, the first album from Dublin producer Sal Dulu, attempts to bottle the eerie tranquillity of the urban night in ten tracks. Dalu has talked about working in the nocturnal hours, and feeling his creativity strengthened by sleep deprivation. With this free-flowing release, he has also managed to tap into a wider feeling that everyday life is beginning to resemble the night-time haze. Recent events have accelerated the spread of home working, and the blurring of the bedroom and the office leaves little room for real life to break the somnambulism. Dulu envisioned Xompulse as an approximation of the dreamworld.…

  • The Thin Air’s Top 100 Irish Tracks of 2020 (#100-51)

Ah, 2020 eh? Unless you were living off the grid in a self-made banana bread house whilst rocking yourself gently to various iterations of ‘Happy Birthday’ as you washed your hands, then you will know that despite collectively living through the pandemic there were plenty of Irish songs to get excited about. 100 to be precise. We’ve listened to them on repeat since we couldn’t attend gigs, raves, or house parties so we’re certain we’ve selected the finest this little locked down island has to offer. It’s safe to say this year epitomised the true meaning of community in this country…

  • Stream: Sal Dulu – Tyko

Sal Dulu emerged from the undergrowth and into our inboxes last week and we were immediately absorbed. The Dublin-based producer/multi-instrumentalist’s new track ‘Tyko’ is a stunning work of delicate balearic percussion, field recordings and found sounds, warm synths and vocals by one Xao. It is only the third track that the 25-year-old producer has made available, with ‘Antasma’ and ‘Duluoz Dream’ nestling quietly on Soundcloud and displaying the same level of subtle –often jazz based – intricacy, great pacing and quiet emotion. We’re not sure what to expect from Sal Dulu in future but with three tracks of this quality we could…
