The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer have announced a massive Irish co-headliner for next year. The U.S. alt-rock heroes will team up for a UK and Irish tour next June, including a date at 3Arena in Dublin on Monday, 10th June. Tickets for the show cost €69.50 and go on sale this Friday, 20th October at 10am. Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer are set to team up for a show in Dublin next summer. Taking place as part of their global “Hella Mega” stadium tour, the bands will play RDS Arena on June 29th, 2020. Tickets cost €79.50 and go on sale on Friday, September 20 at 10am. Pricey enough but, if you’re a fan of all three bands, what a steal, eh?

Weezer has had a rough time over the last decade. Things had been on a downward trajectory since 2003’s Make Believe and watching what at one time was the most shining example of contemporary pop rock flail about to awkward disco tracks and Lil’ Wayne collaborations was both embarrassing and heartbreaking in equal measure. However with their last effort, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, the group seemed to recapture some of their early “Brian Wilson and Steve Smith fronting a Cheap Trick cover band” magic. Having debuted the song on their cruise earlier in the year, Weezer have just made available the nostalgic ‘Back To The Shack’ to stream. It will be the lead single on their forthcoming tenth album – recorded with Ric Ocasek, who produced their first two, and most highly-regarded LPs – Everything Will Be Alright In The End, out on September 30.
