Experimental Portland outfit Grails return with their sixth album Chalice Hymnal, their first in six years, and play Belfast's Empire on March 8 as part of a European tour.
Initially going by the name Laurel Canyon, the band played their first show on a whim, and the band continued after positive feedback. They self-released two EPs in 2000 & 2001, before releasing their debut LP in 2003. Their last album, Deep Politics, was, as ever for the band, an instrumental foray into exploratory genre-spanning, cerebral composition loosely filed under psychedelic post-rock. Check out the title track off their new album, 'Chalice Hymnal'.
Support comes from Moog-laden space/krautrock project Majeure, the pseudonym under which Pittsburgh musician Anthony E. Paterra plays. Check out 'Teleforce'.
