Folk-singing sisters Rachel & Becky Unthank, The Unthanks come to Dublin's Vicar Street on May 25 with their unique show displaying the songs and poems of Molly Drake.
In the 1950s, wistful mother Molly Drake made some simple home recordings in her family sitting room, and decades later her son Nick Drake would become one of the most beloved and revered folk singers of all time, with the dust blown off her own songs - which were themselves as bittersweet and pensive as Nick's. Her work was released in 2013, and The Unthanks found it so strong on its own merit, that they have brought their show to fruition, with the permission of the Drake estate and full blessing of her daughter, actress Gabrielle Drake.
The Mercury-nominated folk act, as they did with Robert Wyatt and Anthony & The Johnsons, will be accompanied with the release of an album of Molly Drake's work - Diversions Vol. 4. Their latest in a line of projects.
