Palm Desert scene originators Yawning Man play Voodoo on December 14.
Heavily influenced by psychedelia, punk, jazz, punk rock and everything else absorbed during their heady time together, they were a massive influence on the popularisers of the desert rock sound like Kyuss, QOTSA and countless others. Forming in 1986, they drew from SST Records - the likes of Black Flag, Minutemen, Meat Puppets and the like, sounding somewhere between early Floyd, Black Flag and Morricone. They didn't release any outright studio albums until 2005, their most recent being 2016's Historical Graffiti - check out Vista Point.
Aptly providing support are the fast-rising, intoxicatingly funky, soulful, psychedelic jam trio Electric Octopus - check out one of their many albums.
Admission costs £10 on the night, with doors open at 8pm.
