One of the most groundbreaking acts to emerge from the post-punk & new wave scene The The, have followed up on their reunion dates in Britain with a Iveagh Gardens on July 7.
Formed in 1979 from an NME advert by songwriter Matt Johnson at the age of 17, he's the only constant member of the band - which at various points included Johnny Marr, Sinead O'Connor and Marc Almond. Their debut album, Soul Mining, came out in 1983, and is a bona fide synth-noir classic. Their prime run lasted as a vehicle for Johnson until 1993's Dusk, before slowing down and disbanding in 2003. Tickets, priced at €55.50, are available from Ticketmaster. Gates open at 6.30pm.
