Scottish punk legends The Skids have just put out their latest album, Burning Cities, and are set to play a joint-headline show with Big Country, playing Belfast's Limelight 1 on November 30.
The Dunfermline band comprises former members Richard Jobson, Bill Simpson & Mike Baillie, as well as Big Country's Bruce & Jamie Watson. Having formed in 1977, they supported the Clash before signing to Virgin for a string of huge singles, most notably 'Into The Valley'. The band released four albums before their split, and this new album marks 40 years since their debut No Bad EP, championed by John Peel.
Fellow Dunfermaline band Big Country achieved huge success under the foundation of Skids guitarist Stuart Adamson in 1981, before he unfortunately took his own life in 2001. Blending Scottish folk instrumentation with alternative music genres at the time, they retain a massive cult following beyond their mid-80s peak that extends to 2018, the 35th anniversary of their debut album The Crossing.
Tickets cost £26 from Ticketmaster and Katy's Bar. Doors open at 8pm.
