One of the world's most essential live acts in recent years, funk/disco legends Nile Rodgers &Chic return to Ireland, playing the RDS Main Hall on December 1.
Regarding themselves as a rock band in a disco movement, the group released an almost-inappropriate number of classic disco/funk/soul singles in their original run from '76-'83. Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards had been playing together for years, finally releasing Chic's debut single 'Everybody Dance' in 1977.
These days, they're one of the naturally tightest live bands in the world, selling out practically everywhere they go, with setlists peppered with some of the instantly recognisable hits - from Madonna to Daft Punk - penned by frontman Rodgers from the '70s through until today. This comes at the end of a year that has seen Rodgers appointment as the Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame & Chief Creative Advisor at Abbey Road Studios.
