Moving On Music's annual major highlight, the Brilliant Corners Jazz Festival, returns once more from March 2-9. Blending their mutant jazz sensibilities with spacey electronics and post-rock atmospheres, Get The Blessing close the festival at the Black Box on March 9.
Their latest album Bristopia ventures into new, unexplored territories, setting the pace for the current UK Jazz revival, demonstrating how the early pioneers of the scene are still at the forefront. Formed in 1999 by bassist Jim Barr and drummer Clive Deamer (rhythm section of Portishead) alongside Jake McMurchie - on sax and electronics - and Pete Judge - trumpet and electronics - the Bristol-based four-piece have forged a signature sound that defies easy classification.
Despite several short breaks for other projects over the years – most recently in 2018 when drummer Clive Deamer was on tour again with Radiohead – they have never lost sight of thumping tunes, monstrously infectious beats, or joyous collective spontaneity. Watch the video for 'Phaenomena'.
Dublin-born musician Chris Guilfoyle supports.
Tickets are available here, priced £16 (£2 concession) - or £45 for the entire festival. Doors open at 8pm.
