    Robocobra Quartet & Meltybrains?

    Black Box

    Dublin

    rqmb

Moving On Music hold a double-headline show at the Black Box on May 17 with two of the most uncompromising musical acts in Ireland. Avant-garde jazz-punks Robocobra Quartet have long been one of the best live bands around - have a listen to their incredible second album Plays Hard To Get, which came in at #3 on our Irish albums of the year, and was nominated for the NI Music Prize. They've been described as Mingus-meets-Fugazi, and we'd be hard pushed to disagree, if you filter in some Robert Wyatt as a middle-ground.

Meltybrains? have garnered a reputation for their unabashed creativity, with each member classically trained, while their live show hinges equally on the visual & performative element of their music. Genuinely uncategorisable, since 2012, the band has been creating incredibly imaginative electronic soundscapes, and performing highly theatrical live shows with an infectious, manic energy. Their fearless approach makes for music with endless possibilities, and is incredibly refreshing in a world bound by strict structure and harmony. A must see. Have a listen on Bandcamp.

Admission costs £14, or £10 concession from Eventbrite. Doors open at 8pm.
