Dublin new wave band The Blades, having reunited in 2013 to sellout crowds, play Cork's midsummer festival at St. Luke's on June 14.
Formed at the height of punk in 1977, the trio released pair of 7" singles in the early eighties on Energy Records, and played a six week residency at the Baggott Inn with U2, regularly swapping headline slots in an attempt to make it. Their frontman and bassist Paul Cleary was named Songwriter of the Year ahead of Bono and Van Morrison, and Single of the Year for 'The Bride Wore White' back in 1982's Hot Press awards. Check out their new material on Bandcamp.
Supporting is the immensely prolific Laurie Shaw- check out one of his many albums on Bandcamp.
Tickets are available, priced from €30, here. Doors open at 8pm.
