At long last, Eastern European-tinged folk rock project Sons of Burlap are set to release their debut album, which launches at Belfast's Ulster Sports club on September 14.
The band features brothers Rory & Ewen Friers, of ASIWYFA and Catalan respectively, as well as their father, artist Julian Friers and members of the aforementioned. The music, not unlike the musicians themselves, a mixture of pretty old and relatively new. They combine traditional instruments, fiddle, flute, mandolins, with overdriven electric guitar - while the rhythm section hold it together flock together, leading to something familiar, but entirely fresh, and shockingly danceable.
Tickets are available here, priced £9. Doors open at 8pm.
