Premiere: Bedrooms – crusher/birds of prey

It’s hard to believe it’s been over four years since we first sang the praises of Bedrooms.

Their third single, ‘Bus Lanes’, was a perfect introduction to a Dublin trio who knew their way around the subtleties of indie rock—a band who could surely tell apart echoing the cool restraint of Luna and the reflective depth of Damon & Naomi—all while quietly carving out their own space.

Now, four years on, the band are on the cusp of unveiling their long-awaited debut album, Perfectly Still. Reuniting with Bill Ryder-Jones at YAWN Studios—the same space where they crafted their 2021 EP Afterglow—Bedrooms are pushing into thrilling new territory.

Across nine tracks, Perfectly Still promises to be a singular meld of alternative rock, folk, shoegaze, and slowcore, with the same fine-tuned knack that first caught our attention. We’re sure it’s going to be one of the standout Irish releases of the year.

Today, we’re pleased to premiere the album’s first single, ‘crusher/birds of prey’. It’s unmistakably Bedrooms: delicate yet impactful, slowing down pop-punk’s favourite I-V-vi-IV progression into more inward-peering, Alex G-like terrain.

The single’s suitably homespun visuals, directed and edited by Tom Kelly, is pretty special, too. Have a first look below ahead of the single’s release tomorrow.

Perfectly Still is released on September 20th.
