Eoin French, the Cork-born indie/electronic artist known to many as Talos, has passed away at the age of 37. The heartbreaking news reached us late today, August 13th, revealing that French, who we have widely featured on TTA over the years, had been quietly battling cancer in recent months and passed away peacefully over the weekend. French, who created and performed music under the Talos moniker, was a remarkably talented singer-songwriter whose work left an indelible mark on the Irish music scene. Having spent his time between Cork and Reykjavik, he released a series of acclaimed EPs and albums since…

The brainchild of Cork singer/writer/producer Eoin French, ‘In Time’, the latest release from Talos, has just been made available. His debut single, ‘Tethered Bones‘ came out last year, and his progressively strong singles since then have hinted at a wider ambition, tying together contemporary Irish singer-songwriter material with more ambient, atmospheric electronic panorama. He plays The Academy at 9.35 this Friday night as part of Hard Working Class Heroes in Dublin. Stream ‘In Time’ below:

Directed, shot and edited by the visual maestros at Feel Good Lost, Cork singer-songwriter Eoin French AKA Talos has released a suitably understated video of him performing a wonderfully delicate version of ‘Tethered Bones’. Reminiscent of the likes of Perfume Genius and the Antlers, the stripped-back rendition of the debut track sees French’s vocals take centre stage, the original track’s percussion inflections and electronic tangents purified to a gripping four and a half minute of serene performance. We approve, in other words. Check out the video (by FGL’s Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson) and the original track below.
