Chris Leckey, Carl Small and Wilson Davidson, aka Belfast indie-punk trio Mob Wife, share with us some of their strongest influences ahead of the release of their debut album Eat With Your Eyes this Friday. They launch their album at Ulster Sports Club for Asphyxia Promotions on May 12. Thee Oh Sees – Ticklish Warrior Carl: I first heard this song at a house party back in 2017 and instantly fell in love with this band and went out and bought a number of their records the following day. I’m typing this collection of words onto a page, in whichever font I choose, displayed on a screen, which is attached to a bunch of plastic and metal with electricity running through it which is wirelessly connected to an international network containing all the information ever, which I can’t even see. Crazy. Thanks to technology, the world of entertainment has been changed forever. Sure, it has its pros and cons but it has certainly made things a lot easier. To mark the release of his highly-anticipated debut album, VerseChorusVerse AKA Belfast-based singer-songwriter Tony Wright has announced a special, full-band show in association with The Thin Air. Featuring Jonny Black and Herb Magee from LaFaro and Stu Bell and Stephen Leacock (ex-General Fiasco, Desert Hearts), the Northern Irish supergroup of sorts (above) will bring to life what Wright calls “an edgy, full blooded, forward thinking, rootsy rock n roll album laced equally with hope and realism”.
