What does it mean to win? Do we all know? Do we all agree? Have we all challenged ourselves to question what it is that we want to personally achieve here? Do we want to be the loudest? Do we want to have the last word? Or, do we want to repeal the 8th amendment? I am not of course talking about the many resilient, brave, inspirational women who have trudged through the mud for our right to choose for longer than we know. I am not talking about the amazing women who have joined them over the past few…

Le Galaxie are back with ‘Day of the Child’ the second single off their forthcoming album, released today and currently streaming on Spotify. The neon inflected dance track features MayKay from dearly departed Fight Like Apes on vocals and some Soft Cell inspired synths, perfectly encapsulating their signature sound. Having appeared as a guest on previous tracks and a huge favourite at their live gigs, this release coincides with the news of her officially becoming the fifth member of the group. Their highly anticipated album ‘Pleasure’ will be released on April 6 on the Red River Label.

Fight Like Apes‘ frontwoman May Kay tackles the age-old thin line separating homage and unwitting imitation. It’s an extremely distressing situation. You’ve spent weeks, maybe months on a song. You started off with a devilishly catchy riff (if you don’t say so yourself). You built everything around that, you scrapped some things and started again, still with the same riff, determined to make it work. You put some lyrics on there. Scrap some. Add some new ones. Eventually you finish it. It is the most exciting thing. It really is like all your Christmas’ have come at once. That is,…

“Not only am I a really good singer, I’m really good looking as well.” My long suffering mother warned me very early on about being misquoted. She told me to be careful with every word I said and imagine every sentence as a headline. Make sure you can stand by your words. Why say anything otherwise? “Yeah whatever, Mum. I’m 22 years old. I know what I’m doing! Stop patronising me! I’ve been doing this for almost three whole years!” So, yes. I did say the aforementioned sentence. Yes, I did become mute and open mouthed for about two hours…

Last night Le Galaxie launched their interactive partnership with Pulse by Absolut at Dublin’s Academy with the release of their video for ‘Carmen’, the Dublin band’s new single featuring May Kay from Fight Like Apes. Le Galaxie granted Shaun Neary exclusive backstage and soundcheck access leading up to the main event. Over the course of the evening, Lorcansface worked his make-up magic on the lads, covering Mick’s glorious beard in shades of blue that would give Tim Harrington a serious run for his money. Le Galaxie were also joined on stage by Elaine Mai for their sleek Summer anthem ‘Lovesystem’. The entire night was a…
