Dialogue Present Jake Hodgkinson at White’s Tavern, Belfast
Friday 29 July

Dialogue is making its name for itself as one of Belfast’s best underground techno nights. For their fourth party they’ll be bringing in Bristolian Jake Hodgkinson to the intimate White’s Tavern in Belfast’s city centre.  AL

Flipside: Dynamo Dreesen at Bar Tengu, Dublin
Friday 29 July

Acido Records boss Dynamo Dreesen comes to Tengu for an extended set, promising the solid house you’d expect from this Sex Tags and SUED affiliate. AH

Bank Holiday Basement Party w/ Dream Cycles & more, The Chelsea Drugstore Basement, Dublin
Sunday 31 July

Discotekken always put on swell parties, but with the double-header of Beatyard and a Bank Holiday weekend, they’re really bringing it this weekend. First up, they’ve got the effortlessly smooth and enjoyable Tensnake and Daniel Wang in Wigwam on Saturday, two DJs who are utterly joyous in their ability to bring the party. Next, there’s Dream Cycles at The Chelsea Drugstore. I don’t know who that is, in all honesty, but I was listening to this wonderfully weird mix as I happened upon this listing. Definitely worth a look. AH

Tracks

Equiknoxx – A Rabbit Spoke To Me When I Woke Up [Demdike Stare]

One of the finest releases so far this year comes from Kingston courtesy of Equiknoxx. The phrase ‘mutant dancehall’ seems as appropriate as any for what they do, and A Rabbit Spoke To Me… is one of the strongest examples of what the new LP on Demdike Stare is all about. Incredible release on a label that’s had a great year. AL

Complete Walkthru – Performative Grief [1080p]

Complete Walkthru AKA Max McFerren has a new tape out on 1080p tomorrow. ‘Performative Grief’ encapsulates a lot of what everyone loves about the Vancouver label, melodic and gratifyingly groovy and a great taster for what lies ahead for the LP. AL

Mixes

Lee Gamble w/ Lanark Artefax on NTS

This month on his UIQ label show, Lee Gamble has a guest mix from Lanark Artefax, whose new EP Glasz has just come out on the label. The first hour is woozy, blown-out house and techno from Lee and the second hour contains the batshit experimental sounds of the UIQ newcomer. Very enjoyable 2 hours to have a weird afternoon to. AL

Randomer on Rinse FM 22nd July

Nothing but total intensity from Randomer for his most recent Rinse show. It’s as to be expected, he’s been releasing progressively rawer techno as his career has progressed and if you fancy two hours of in-your-face bangers then you’re in the right place.  AL

Dekmantel Podcast 080 – Phuong-Dan

Golden Pudel resident Phuong-Dan contributed this week’s Dekmantel podcast (ahead of the festival next week) and it’s killer. Not bright and summery like a lot of other stuff in this entry, but dank and oppressive, heavy with dread. Turgid with filth and grime, it’s hugely rewarding. AH

VA – Rhythms Of The Pacific Volume 3. [Pacific Rhythm]

More stellar music from Vancouver, as Pacific Rhythm drop their third volume in the Rhythms of The Pacific series. This one features the relatively familiar Khotin alongside the wonderfully named Slim Media Player and Electric Sound Broadcast. Sultry, smoggy house at its finest. AH
