Belfast City Council has made an open call for applications to join the Belfast Region Music Board.
As part of their council’s music strategy, Music Matters – a Roadmap for Belfast, the music board is being created to bring to life the city being awarded UNESCO City of Music status, helping to “embed music in all communities across the city to make music a sustainable career option for creators and people who support them”.
With the hope of bringing together 15 to 20 members, the initiative is inviting expressions of interest from people in the music industry to sit on the board.
In a statement, Belfast City Council said: “We welcome applications from people who are committed to the vision and aims of the Belfast Music strategy. If you’re a creator, a professional from the cultural and creative industries or you’re involved in educational bodies, public authorities or non-governmental organisations, we would love to hear from you.”
As the city gears up for a year of exciting events and initiatives to mark the UNESCO City of Music designation, this is a perfect opportunity for creators and creative professionals in Northern Ireland to have their say. For terms of reference and an application form, email belfastmusic@belfastcity.gov.uk. Applications to join the board close at 4pm on Monday 6 February.
