    Jangle/neo-surf pop outfit Sea Pinks have just unveiled ‘Dream Happening’, the first track from their aptly-titled upcoming album Dreaming Tracks. The LP will be Sea Pinks’ first release since single ‘An Exploded View‘ was put out last November.   • Stream: Mons Olympus – Critical Mass

    ‘Critical Mass’ is the debut single from Belfast’s latest riff-pedalling prog behemoths Mons Olympus and was produced by Mojo Fury’s Mike Mormecha. The track comes from their upcoming debut album Vampyroteuthis, which has a tentative release date of Spring 2015. Having been in the works for the last year, progressive trio Mons Olympus comprises Rory Dee, Luke Burns and John Quinn, the core members of Chocolate Love Factory, who officially disbanded earlier in 2014. ‘Critical Mass’ is available to download for a mere 88p from Bandcamp, but you can stream it below: Critical Mass by Mons Olympus    

  • The White Mansions – The Crossing

    Having had a busy summer month of touring festivals, The White Mansions have just released their debut album The Crossing, available from iTunes, Amazon & to stream on Spotify. The six-piece country & bluegrass act launch their album with a to-be-confirmed show at the Ulster American Folk Park and a Black Box gig alongside rockabilly quartet The Sabrejets at the Black Box for the Belfast American Folk & Roots Club on September 27.   • Punk Rock @ The Lyric

    Punk Rock – a play written by Simon Stephens and directed by Selina Cartmell – comes to Belfast’s Lyric Theatre for a stint, from August 10 until September 6. Set amongst a clique of sixth formers during exam time in a library as they prepare for mock A levels, Punk Rock sees the typically dysfunctional group discuss their pre-university problems and struggles with personal identity.   • Revival Belfast – Baptism of Fire

  • Film Night: Some Like It Hot

    The Walled Garden of Ward Park in Bangor – accessible via entrance opposite the park’s Aurora pool – plays host to a one-off screening of Some Like It Hot on Saturday, August 23 for the Open House Bangor Festival which takes place in the town for the entirety of the month.
