Derry/Londonderry alt-rock/post-hardcore quartet Droids have whet our riff-loving appetite for the long-awaited follow-up release to their eponymous debut EP with their new track, ‘Burn Down’ – a progression in terms of craft and production – which is available for stream on their Bandcamp below. The track was recorded in their hometown’s Smalltown America studios by Chris Cassidy, and was mixed & mastered by Neal Calderwood of Manor Park. As was exclusively revealed by the Derry Journal earlier today, a major two day music festival “will take place in Derry this September”. Although details are few and far between at this early stage, the newspaper reported that “initial local investment [in the festival] amounts to approximately £1,000,000. There are no details of any shows in the more established cities of Belfast and Dublin it sure is refreshing to see a high-profile band playing at some smaller venues around the country. Tickets went on sale at 12, and the ticket details can be found on the band’s website: http://kasabianlive.com/2014/04/four-irish-dates-announced-presale-live-12pm-today/…

Some of the world’s leading street and graffiti artists from USA, Germany, Ireland and Britain will unite in Derry-Londonderry City centre on July 2013 to join with the best local artists for a two-day Graffiti Jam, resulting in an arresting 250ft-long themed cityscape. In the weeks leading up to the event, young people from across the city will take part in a series of intensive workshops to learn design and graffiti skills, so that they too can take part in the main event on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July. The Graffiti Jam, almost more than anything else, shows the…
