• Forbidden Fruit Add More Acts

    With the likes of Underworld, Tame Impala and Jungle already announced, Forbidden Fruit have revealed Dizzee Rascal, Katy B, Young Fathers, Katy B and DJ Deece are amongst the acts to perform on the Friday of the June bank holiday festival. Elsewhere, MMOTHS, Beta Band’s Steve Mason, French deep house project Klingande and The Field have also been added to the bill for this year’s festival, which is set to return to Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham from June 3-5.   • AVA Festival Reveal First Keynote Speakers, Panel Sessions and More

    Having had an exceptional inaugural outing last year (check out our review right here) Belfast electronic festival AVA will return to T13 on Saturday, June 4 with the very solid aim of celebrating and nurturing talent from across the length and breadth of the country. With more yet to be revealed, Detroit techno pioneer Juan Atkins, DJ and writer Dave Haslam, Belfast’s Bicep, Association of Electronic Music director Mark Lawrence, Shanti Celeste (pictured), Lizzy Bowman, Halina Wielogorska, Sarah McBriar, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Belfast Underground Records are amongst the first names confirmed to take part in panels, talks, workshops and sessions throughout the day.…

  • Body & Soul Announce Second Wave of Acts

    With the likes of Floating Points, Mercury Rev and Sun Kil Moon already announced, the second wave of acts have been revealed for this year’s Body & Soul Festival. Set to return to Ballinlough Castle in Co. Westmeath during the Summer Solstice Weekend of June 17-19, The Gloaming, Hudson Mohawke, Neon Indian (pictured above), Optimo, Gold Panda, Bleeding Heart Pigeons, David August, Brian Deady and Holly Macve are the latest acts to join the bill.   • More Acts Set for Sea Sessions

    Bundoran, Co. Donegal surf and music festival Sea Sessions have announced the second wave (ahem) of acts set to play its ninth outing from June 24-June 26. With the likes of Primal Scream, Bad Manners and Ciaran Lavery already revealed, Gavin James, Ham Sandwich, King Kong Company, Raglans, Daithi, Exmagician (pictured), Miles Graham, Picture This, T.P.M., Fang Club, New Valley Wolves, Crow Black Chicken, Karma Parking, Third Smoke and Wolves of Youth join the bill.   • Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival 2016

    Set to return to Belfast for its grand 17th outing from April 28-May 8, this year’s Cathedral Quarter Art Festival is set to be yet another mouth-wateringly, curiousity-satingly sublime 11 days and nights of music and culture. Ranging from the likes of legendary reggae producer Lee “Scratch” Perry (pictured), The Zombies and Arab Strap’s Aidan Moffatt to David Holmes, John Cooper Clarke and Grandmaster Flash, this year’s line-up (in full below) is, for our money, the strongest CQAF outing to date.   • Electric Picnic Reveal First Acts

    With the rumours coming thick and fast over the last couple of weeks, Electric Picnic have revealed the first acts confirmed to play this year’s festival. With much more yet to be revealed, LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, New Order and The Chemical Brothers top this year’s festival. Super Furry Animals, Haim, Todd Terje, Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Savages are also amongst the first confirmed acts. See the full first announcement below.   • KnockanStockan 2016

    Having expanding to three days due to demand, annual Wicklow independent music and arts festival KnockanStockan will return to Blessington Lakes across the weekend of July 22-24 for its tenth anniversary outing. Calling it a “celebration of the last 10 years of Irish music”, this year’s festival will also play host to special ‘Honorary Guests’ that won’t be identified until they take to stage.   • Caribou, Cat Power and more for Castlepalooza

    Marking its tenth anniversary, Castlepalooza will return to Charleville Castle, Tullamore in Co. Offaly from July 1 to July 3 this year. With more acts to be revealed in the coming weeks, Caribou, Jurassic 5, Cat Power, Villagers, Romare, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Cork’s The Altered Hours are amongst the first acts announced to play the annual summer festival.   • First acts announced for Body & Soul

    Easily their most eclectic first announcement to date, Body & Soul have announced the first acts set to play their return to Westmeath’s Ballinlough Castle from June 17-19. With some of the very best Irish acts accounted for in the form of EMBRZ, Rusangano Family, Talos and Forrests, the big-hitters this year (so far) are Santigold, St. Germain, Mercury Rev, Wolf Parade, Floating Points, Badbadnotgood, Junior Boys and Mark Kozelek’s Sun Kil Moon.   • First Acts Revealed for Live at Leopardstown

    Set to return from June to August this summer, the first acts for this year’s Bulmer’s Live at Leopardstown series have been revealed. With several more acts to be confirmed, Bob Geldof’s Boomtown Rats will perform on August 11, The Strypes (frontman Ross Farrelly, pictured) will play August 4 and Booka Brass Band will make an appearance on July 21. Tickets – priced at a very reasonable €18 – and are on sale now.
