Ah, 2020 eh? Unless you were living off the grid in a self-made banana bread house whilst rocking yourself gently to various iterations of ‘Happy Birthday’ as you washed your hands, then you will know that despite collectively living through the pandemic there were plenty of Irish songs to get excited about. 100 to be precise. We’ve listened to them on repeat since we couldn’t attend gigs, raves, or house parties so we’re certain we’ve selected the finest this little locked down island has to offer. It’s safe to say this year epitomised the true meaning of community in this country…

Last month, Irish-Scottish electro-pop twosome Mia Fitz and Toni Etherson aka SIIGHTS unveiled the lead track from their self-titled debut EP. Having clocked up over 180k streams over the last few weeks, ‘Blue Skies’ now comes with a stellar remix featuring an artist we handpicked as one to watch back in 2018, fast-rising Dublin rapper JyellowL. “We reached out to JyellowL and having him involved has been amazing,” SIIGHTS said. “He’s so talented, we love what he brought to the track and the personal perspective he shared lyrically. This song means a lot to us and was hard to write. We have…

Ahead of what we expect to be a strong year for Word Up Collective, JyellowL has unveiled the video for new single, ‘True Colors’. Taken from his latest EP, Me n Me Too, slick production and breathless bars meld for one of the strongest efforts from the Dublin-based rapper, aka Jean-Luc Uddoh, to date. We’re told, “The song is about becoming aware of the shadiness in the world and calling it as is but also exposing yourself for masking moments of vulnerability with exuberant confidence, hiding your true self behind the bravado.” Check out the video – and upcoming JyellowL tour…
