Yet another visual masterstroke by Brendan Canty of Feel Good Lost, the brand new video for ‘Love System’ by Le Galaxie (feat. Elaine Mae) features an Irish couple delving headfirst into the throes of night and complete abandon, zig-zagging across the country, getting up to all kinds of badness in service stations, amusement arcades, greasy spoon diners and driving ranges. Le Galaxie’s Le Club will be available worldwide from November 6 via Universal Music Ireland. Watch the video for Love System below.

Having took on the guise of an unofficial anthem for the Irish Marriage Equality referendum earlier this year, Le Galaxie’s ‘Love System’ has received a new, rather brilliant reworking courtesy of Cork’s Young Wonder. With a new video for the original mix set to be unveiled to accompany its re-release on September 25, the single will also feature a remix of ‘Put The Chain On’ by John Gibbons Speaking about the remix of ‘Love System’, Ian Ring from Young Wonder said, “I really loved the sonics and 80’s feeling that Le Galaxie had in the original. I wanted to pay tribute to that in the…

The latest Roving Eye trip took me to Brighton to get a little taste of The Great Escape with party time favourites Le Galaxie. Brighton – nicknamed “London by the Sea” – has witnessed huge gentrification over the last decade, albeit without losing its notorious licentiousness. It has a charming seaside resort exterior, with beautiful Regency architecture converted into guest houses or pied-à-terre for London bourgeois weekenders. However, a gentle scratch of the surface reveals an undercurrent of bohemian non-conformist attitudes and the UK’s largest recreational drug market. Seemed like the perfect location for the UKs leading music industry festival,…

On this, the first night of Le Galaxie’s Irish tour following the launch of their whopper new album Le Club in The Academy over the course of two nights at the end of April, the atmosphere in the Roisín Dubh is whirring with excitement. This excitement is not that of going to see a concert however; the giddy punters don’t appear to be just anxiously anticipating the arrival of their entertainment for the night. Instead, it feels like the crowd are all guests at some gratuitous party. It’s all colour and laughter and anticipation of what the hosts, those cool…

This week’s column emerges just days after the announcement of what could be yet another landmark in an already resurgent Cork music community in 2015. Following February’s Block Party and Noisefest, as well as a clutch of fantastic weekends of gigging, this past week saw the announcement of 100/1, a night that sees one-hundred bands play in over twenty venues around Cork, with the aim to have the oversight of all the promoters in town working together. It’s a hugely ambitious project to say the least, but proof positive of the resurgence of Cork’s music scene that such an idea…

Ask any man and his dog, “What are Le Galaxie?” and they (ok, just the man) will invariably respond with a giddy spiel about a neon-soaked, party-starting machine, with the utmost collective ability to make even the most shy and retiring maladroit splay and flail like Techno Viking having a series of seizure-induced fits. And he would be right. Yes, with their profound, cosmically-inclined fondness for hip and happening one-off happenings, Le Galaxie are very much at it again, with the announcement that they’re bringing Le Club to Dublin’s Academy on April 24 and 25. Set to coincide with the…
