Comprised of three members of defunct post-metal five-piece Annapurna, TOSKA have unveiled their debut track, ‘Polyforms’ Featuring furious vocals from Aran Glover of We Are Knuckle Dragger, the track – impressively clocking in at just under ten minutes – traverses progressive metal tangents, intricate instrumentalism and cyclopean down-tuned chords, reminiscent of the band’s previous incarnation. Ahead of supporting Queens of the Stone Age at Belfast’s Odyssey arena this day next week, Little Matador have unveiled their debut EP, Liar Liar A four track release, currently available at the merch stall on the band’s current tour with Jimmy Eat World, the EP serves as fully-realised introduction to Little Matador’s sound, from the charging alt-rock of ‘Boom Boom’ to the anthemic ‘Swagger’ of ‘Give Me All You’ve Got’. On the eve of the release of his forthcoming third album, we have an exclusive stream of ‘Bear of a Star’ by Dublin-based singer-songwriter The Late David Turpin. Having already released two albums under his own name, Turpin – who recently died for “approximately died for 28 seconds” – will release We Belong Dead on September 13. To celebrate the release, Turpin will perform the album in full with a chamber choir on September 15 at Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre. ‘Bear of a Star’ strikes a rather brilliant balance between Beck, Eels and Of Montreal, with hints of Wire and Soul Coughing. Ahead of their release of the hugely-anticipated debut album, Everything I’ve Learnt, at the end of the month, Belfast-based quartet More Than Conquerors are streaming two new tracks – ‘Jaw’ and ‘Try-Antlers’ via the Smalltown America Soundcloud. The band are set to the launch the album at Belfast’s Limelight 2 on Monday, September 23. Support on the night comes from Fatherson and Craig Conkey.
