    With the now-sold-out largest music & arts festival in Ireland very much looming before us, it’s a relatively quiet week ahead in terms of gigs, but there are a few of doozies in the coming days scattered across the island.   • Final Electric Picnic Acts announced

    Less than two weeks now to the start of Ireland’s premier music festival, and the festival has revealed the final seventeen acts that will grace the stage at Stradbelly. Several top Irish bands lead the way with Sleep Thieves (above), Tvvins, We Cut Corners and Raglans all set to perform. The other artists that will be playing at the festival are Jenny Lewis,  Krystal Klear,  PHOX,  The Minutes, Vann Music, Booka Brass Band  Spies, The Academic, Orla Gartland, Buffalo Sunn, Daniel James,  Acrobat and Wyvern Lingo. Electric Picnic takes place at Stradbelly Estate, Laois from August 29 to 31. Tickets are sold out.

  • Castlepalooza 2014

    A highly-anticipated annual fixture at the breathtaking Charleville Castle in Tullamore, Castlepalooza 2014 will take place across the weekend of August 1-3. Super Furry Animals’ main man Gruff Rhys, indie-pop duo Summer Camp and Franco-Swiss DJ Gilles Peterson top the bill this year, with several Irish acts including TVVINS, Hurdles, We Cut Corners, The Clameens, Affleck and Ships also featuring in this year’s line-up.     Four months on from the propulsive electro-pop of their second single, ‘You Better’, Dublin duo Lar Kaye and Conor Adams AKA TVVINS have released a video of them performing a new track, ‘Book’, at Dublin’s Storm Studio.   • Gig of the Week: Axis Of, TVVINS, Affleck @ Oh Yeah Centre

    Headlined by North Coast alt-punk three-piece Axis Of, the eighth installment of Distillation at Belfast’s Oh Yeah Centre on Friday, March 14 is our gig of the week. Belfast-based electronic three-piece Affleck (who feature in our latest live session) and Conor Adams and Lar Kaye AKA Dublin synth-pop duo TVVINS will make up the support bill on the night.
