The latest in a series “promoting German musicianship and artistry” in Ireland, HomeBeat and the Goethe-Institut Irland will host the next Zehr Gut at Dublin’s Temple Bar Gallery and Studios on Friday, July 8. Making up the bill for this installment is Dublin-based Australian songstress Liza Flume, electro-pop threesome Sleep Thieves and Leipzig’s Sevensol, founder of the city’s imprint Kann. One of the featured “ones to watch” acts in our 16 For ’16 feature at the start of the year, Belfast duo apartments will play a live Thin Air Tuesday Throwdown (and their last show for the foreseeable future) in the intimate space of Lavery’s Belfast Back Bar on Tuesday, July 19. Featuring some of the absolute best in the emerging Irish Hip-Hop scene, the latest installment of Psykick Dancehall – our regular Dublin showcase with Medium Presents – takes place at Bello Bar on Saturday, June 25. Perhaps best known as director of 1998 Radiohead documentary, Meeting People is Easy – as well as the video for ‘No Surprises’ – British film maker, photographer and cinematographer Grant Gee will make an appearance at Dublin’s Irish Film Institute on Sunday, May 29. A highlight of this year’s International Literature Festival, there will be a screening of Gee’s latest film, Innocence of Memories, followed by a Q+A with Grant in conversation with writer and critic Peter Murphy. On Saturday, April 16, Dublin’s Aviva Stadium will play host to the ninth annual Irish Youth Music Awards, the country’s only all-island youth focused music festival, with over sixteen different regions from across Ireland participating in the project.
