San Francisco lo-fi singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ty Segall has announced that he will release a new solo album, SLEEPER, on August 20. The album – set to be released via Drag City – will be Segall’s first LP since last year’s triptych of Hair, SlaughterHouse and Twins. British electronic duo Dominic Maer and Kai Campos AKA Mount Kimbie have released a stream of their colloboration with London singer-songwriter King Krule. Titled ‘You Took Your Time’, it’s the latest track to be taken from the duo’s forthcoming album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, released via Warp on May 28. Queens Of The Stone Age have unveiled the animated video to yet another new song, ‘Kalopsia’ (“A condition wherein things appear more beautiful than they are”). Set to feature as a mid-album track on the band’s forthcoming new album, … Like Clockwork, it features images from the album’s visual artist Boneface, also responsible for the clip for ‘I Appear Missing’. Snow Patrol have been announced as the headliners of the second day of this year’s Tennent’s Vital – the band’s only European date this summer. Taking play at Belfast’s Boucher Road Playing Fields on Thursday, August 15, it will be eleven years on since the five-piece first played the festival – and seven years on from when they headlined it back in 2006. The band will be supported by Dublin quartet Kodaline and singer-songwriter Foy Vance. Thirty-four years after being founded by Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent, a new book entitled Facing The Other Way will document the colourful history of boundlessly influential record label, 4AD. Having released music from artists as diverse and pioneering the Pixies, Grimes to Cocteau Twin – to name but a few – the London-based independent label will sees its history penned by journalist Martin Aston and will feature several exclusive interviews. To mark the release of his highly-anticipated debut album, VerseChorusVerse AKA Belfast-based singer-songwriter Tony Wright has announced a special, full-band show in association with The Thin Air. Featuring Jonny Black and Herb Magee from LaFaro and Stu Bell and Stephen Leacock (ex-General Fiasco, Desert Hearts), the Northern Irish supergroup of sorts (above) will bring to life what Wright calls “an edgy, full blooded, forward thinking, rootsy rock n roll album laced equally with hope and realism”.
