The artists behind two thirds of our top three Irish albums of last year embark on a run of dates spanning the island over the next few months. Improvised psych-pop outfit The Bonk are set to play five shows with kraut/drone trio Percolator. Having released a string of stellar singles over the last two years, Dublin & Cork-based experimental, orchestral, psychedelic garage rock project The Bonk have released their debut LP, The Bonk Seems To Be A Verb, and we’re delighted to premiere the entire album on its day of release. Dublin progressive psychedelic garage-rock trio Exploding Eyes release their eponymous debut album through US label Big Neck Records on December 9. Exploding Eyes was produced by Jim Diamond, who has worked on sonic titans like Dirtbombs, White Stripes & The Sonics. The LP is launched upstairs at Whelan’s on February 3, with support from psych-doomsters Wild Rocket and nugazers Galants, More details here. Prior to this, the band released two singles on Bandcamp. One of the all-time great music films ‘DIG!‘ is to be screened at The Menagerie on Friday July 18 by garage/psych/shoegaze/dream-pop-oriented showrunners Salvation. The film was the winner of Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and was written, directed & produced by Ondi Timonder – who won the same award for her phenomenal documentary film We Live In Public.
