Released last week, we said ‘Neverlook’, the new single by Dublin noise-pop band Princess was “balanced very nicely between with glacial indie tangents and rampant noise pop, boasting a distinctive, compelling surge; splatterings of rhythm morphing with gaze-y guitar patterns and bobbing bass lines.” Sticking by that assessment, we’re happy to see a visual accompaniment to the track emerge, directed by Kevin Freeney and Dan Finnegan. Without giving too much away: clothes are swapped, legs are shaved and vintage cars are driven. Watch the video below.

A second single has been revealed from next month’s Lese Majesty, the much-anticipated new release from hip-hop experimentalists SHABAZZ PALACES. It’s as avant garde and genre-bending as we have come to expect from the Seattle based duo. It’s called ‘#CAKE,’ and follows the previously released single ‘They Come In Gold.’ The beat slowly pierces through the twitchy instrumental, which is a layered and jazzy affair. Unpredictable, eccentric and undeniably unique, Shabazz Palaces seem on par to match their lauded 2011 debut album Black Up. Listen to ‘#CAKE’ below. Lese Majesty comes out July 29th on Sub Pop.

In the very best sense possible, Sligo instrumental band Tucan have released easily one of the most gloriously messed up videos we’ve seen in quite some time for their new single, ‘As It Was’. Directed by Bobby McGlynn and Bryan Quinn, the video – featuring some extraordinary acting by Jonathan Gunning – features cinematography by Peter Martin and was filmed at The Model in Sligo last year. We challenge you to find a video featuring such an array of facial expressions – some more maniacal than others – from a single actor. Taken from Towers, ‘As It Was’ sees Tucan reinvent themselves…

Dublin-based singer-songwriter The Late David Turpin has unveiled the rather cryptic and impenetrable video for his new single, ‘Hotel’. Made in collaboration with photographer/editor Killian Broderick and starring siblings Julie Shanley and Jack Shanley (as well as Turpin and his own brother), the video was shot on location in the Wicklow mountains and in the atmospheric Bray Head Hotel, which wasrecently used as a location for Neil Jordan’s Byzantium. Partially inspired by esoteric fantasies of the mid-1970s including John Boorman’s Zardoz (1974) and Louis Malle’s Black Moon (1975), the video features multiple fragmented strands suggesting human sacrifice and transformation. Pivoting around a movement piece choreographed by Jack Shanley, the video is…

Recorded by Rocky O’Reilly at Belfast’s Start Together Studios, the track can be streamed/purchased here. Watch the video for ‘Tampa Bay Mutiny’ below.
