• Stream: This Is Me Dead – Vega

It’s been a quiet couple of years for This Is Me Dead. Known for their melodic noise rock and most active during 2011, the Belfast four piece have decided to dust off the cobwebs and rear their heads once again for their new record Vega. A collection of songs old and new, their three track EP is an eclectic mix of mid 90’s power pop and modern day post-punk that is a refreshing addition to the musical landscape of Northern Ireland. Recorded at Millbank Studios in Lisburn and mastered by Rob Arbelo, their EP is available on Bandcamp to stream…

  • Watch: Silences – Sister Snow

Fresh from their debut performance at Electric Picnic, Silences return to our laptop screens with their fantasy-esque video for their new track ‘Sister Snow’ from their forthcoming EP. Sublimely shot by Dublin’s Alec Moore, the video echoes the woodland innocence of Where The Wild Things Are and aptly suits the song, which we previewed in our most recent podcast. Formed in 2012 and fronted by Conchúr White, the band have found themselves in the company of Bell X1, Lisa O’Neill and Foy Vance amongst others on RTE’s Other Voices and have played many festivals including Stendhal Festival and Vantastival. Watch the video…

  • Watch: Interpol – All The Rage Back Home

In what can only be described as a monumental return to form, Interpol have released the video for ‘All The Rage Back Home’ from their forthcoming fifth album El Pintor. If this video is anything to go by it’s safe to say Interpol are back doing what they do best, creating soul-crushing, heartbreaking music capable of making your hair stand on end; something they really haven’t truly achieved since Antics. The album is available for pre-order right now with an immediate mp3 download of ‘All The Rage Back Home’. Watch ‘All The Rage Back Home’ below. El Pintor is due…

  • Stream: LORIS – Do It Right

Belfast electro-indie three piece LORIS have released their second single ‘Do It Right’, the follow up to their debut single ‘I’ve Been Quiet’. Together since 2013, the band once again give us their own brand of thoughtful indie-pop that’s not too dissimilar to the likes of Skibunny or Little Boots. Albeit with a  more upbeat atmosphere than their previous single you can stream and download it for free via their Bandcamp page. Listen to the new single ‘Do It Right’ below. Do It Right by LORIS

  • FLAWS – Harsh Words Through Tangled Wires

On Wednesday, June 25, The Menagerie, Belfast, plays host to the new project of ex-Mojo Fury member Thomas Camblin, FLAWS. The three piece from Belfast are releasing their new EP Harsh Words Through Tangled Wires through Thomas’ new label OLD FANG which has given us the EP from Little Rivers amongst other singles. Their new record deals with “the rawness of human relationships, from broken friendships to loss and regret – peeling back appearances to show the cracks underneath”. They’ll also be supported by Michael Mormecha of Mojo Fury who will be playing his new solo material on the night. Entry…

  • Hannah McPhillimy: Freedom Songs @ Crumlin Road Gaol

Belfast Music Week has been host to many an interesting gig this year, from bookstores to bars, from balconies to boats, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of quirky or fascinating venues, and now Hannah McPhillimy finds herself playing at The Crumlin Road Gaol. In conjunction with No More Traffik, ‘Freedom Songs’ is less of a traditional performance for the Belfast based singer/songwriter and more of an interactive journey through history. Tonight’s show is down in the depths of the now renovated and rejuvenated jail where Hannah uses all three corners of the triangular room to tell a capella…
